Farewell, My Queen (2012)

Farewell, My Queen is a french drama written by Benoît Jacquot. At the court of Versailles, shortly before the French Revolution, the young Sidonie Laborde, who lost her father and mother, has just been engaged as a reader for the Queen Marie Antoinette. She is now housed with the other servants in the outbuildings of the castle, where rumors on powerful people are rife. By her wise choice of readings, sometimes controversial, that appeal to the sovereign, Sidonie slowly forges an inextricable link with the Queen, which she first sees as a simple friendship. She even believe to dethrone Madame de Polignac, governess and best friend of the queen, in the heart of Marie Antoinette. Agathe-Sidonie Laborde, Marie Antoinette and La duchesse Gabrielle de Polignac are portrayed by Léa Seydoux, Diane Kruger and Virginie Ledoyen.
