The Ladies Almanack, an experimental film by Daviel Shy
The Ladies Almanack is an interesting project in production, written & directed by Daviel Shy. It’s story is based on the eponym novel of Djuna Barnes. The film is a kaleidoscopic tribute to women’s writing through the friendships, jealousies, flirtations and publishing woes of authors and artists in 1920’s Paris. Arranged month-by-month like an almanac the story is told by three female narrators: Hélène Cixous, Luce Irigaray, and Monique Wittig. You can find much more informations about this documentary on the official website of The Ladies Almanack. The movie is a volunteer-based creation entirely backed up by enthusiastic donations. This is a good opportunity to support an artistic initiative with a rare, historical and interesting background.
