The way we were, a short film by Claire Neff and Mariana Kaimakliotis
The way we were is an intimate poem that converts the end of a love story into the rebirth of Dani (the narrator) who discovered herself with the help of Regan. This lovely work recounts the crucial night of a girl who met her first girlfriend in a party she didn’t want to be at. While Dani describes her first impression and feelings toward Regan in a retrospective monologue, we slowly perceive how this encounter has definitely influenced her preconceived notions of love, but more importantly, how she eventually understood what it means to fall out of love. The way we were is part of the author’s creative portfolio submited to NYU Tisch School of the Arts. The protagonists are portrayed by Amira Stone and Claire Neff.
